Aprons

Apron is an outer front garment that protects the dress. Earlier the aprons were used by the women and it was considered as the attire of the women but now days aprons are worn by men, women and by the children’s also while working in their respective field. The apron is derived from the word a napron and later on it was considered as an apron by most of the people. There are various reasons for wearing the apron one of them being the protection of inner dress from wear and tear. The other reason for wearing apron is the hygienic reason that helps in maintaining the hygienic and healthy conditions. As per the purpose and chores the style of the apron changes and due to that various types of aprons were designed to cater all the needs.

Aprons were introduced in 1960 and were the important accessory of housewives attires but as the electronic gadgets such as washing machines, mixers, food-processing machines minimized the use of aprons. In normal apron it covers the lower portion of the body that is from the waist to the ankle. These aprons are tied with the help of strips at the back or in some of the aprons the strap is tied across the chest on to the shoulder and that helps in providing the comfort while working in the kitchen but the aprons with neck straps hampers the movements of the individual while working. Now days the aprons have logos on the front side and the baby aprons are provided with the humorous expressions printed on the front side.

The aprons are commonly worn by the doctors, housemaid, nurses, engineering students, motor mechanics, restaurant staffs, and housewives and by the domestic members. Now days one can find wide use of aprons in aviation field, medical field and in motor manufacturing industries. It is an important part of uniform in most of the establishment. Sometimes the aprons also serve the purpose of decorative garment in case of ladies.

There are different verities of aprons that are used now days and some of the verities of aprons are bib aprons, bistro aprons, bar aprons and the medical aprons. Each of these aprons has its own purpose and helps in day-to-day working. The normal working aprons are made from fine quality of cotton material. There are other materials that are used for aprons such as leather aprons, rubber aprons, PVC aprons and the lead aprons.

Rubber aprons are normally used in the chemical industries to protect the skin and the inner clothing from the hazardous chemicals such as acids. In case of hospitals lead aprons plays important role in day-to-day work and protects the laboratory technicians from dangerous radiations. PVC aprons are used by the restaurant staff and also by the housewives while cleaning the utensils and the floor. These aprons protect the clothing from getting drench.

Thus by reading all the above facts and the utilities of the apron one can very well understand that apron is a integral part of all the uniforms and helps in various activities and protects the individual from number of dangers.
