Chef wear consist of various pieces of clothes and they are bandanna, a scarf, bow tie, jacket, hand gloves, apron, pants, shoes, handkerchief and the hat. All these accessories attributes towards the chef wear and each of the accessories has its own purpose while working in the restaurant. But most of the time chef do not wear all these accessory as it restricts their movements and also the temperatures remains hot in the kitchen the chefs neglect some of the above said accessories in their day to day activities. The respective restaurant owners mostly issue the chef wears as part of facility. In most of the restaurants the chefs are dressed in white color uniforms because the white color is symbol of peace and purity. But now the restaurant owners to attract attention of the customers are using various color chefs wears. The purpose bandanna is to absorb the excess sweating along with the kerchief and the scarf. This keeps the chef comfortable and cool. Now days the aprons are replacing bandanna, as aprons are easy to wear and are more comfortable compared to bandanna. These aprons and bandannas are made of soft fiber such as cotton and keep the body cool. These aprons have two to three pockets to keep the handkerchiefs and other documents such as menu card, diary and pen.

The latest trend in the restaurant industry now a day is of wearing fancy jackets. Jackets are the most important part of the chef wear. There are various types of jackets that are used by the chefs as a part of the wear. These jackets have restaurant logos on the collar or on the pockets. In some of the restaurants chefs are provided with ranks as per the seniority and this rank is placed on the shoulder strap of the jacket. These jackets provides smart and modern look to the chef wear.

The other important accessory of the chef wear is the hat, which is symbolic representation of the chefs. The chefs have to wear the cap during his tour of duty. Now days the hats replaced by the scull caps because the scull helps in absorbing the sweat and also avoids loose hairs from falling in to the prepared dishes. In case of chef pants there are lot of varieties such as baggy pants and the pleated pants but the restaurant owners for their chefs prefer the baggy pants, as these are more comfortable with respect to customized pants. Normally these pants are dark in color to camouflage the dirty look of the pants. The next important accessory of the chef wear is the shoe and they are normally in black color. These shoes have flat hills to protect chef from falling, as the floor of the restaurant is slippery. These shoes should be more comfortable while walking and working the kitchen. The chefs are also provided with handkerchiefs to wipe out the sweat and a separate napkin is also issued to the chefs to clean the plates and other utensils while serving.
